British Dancers Shine at Prestigious International DanceSport Event in Wuppertal2025-07-15
One of the most renowned events in the International DanceSport calendar took place earlier this July in Wuppertal, Germany. For over two decades, British dancers have proudly competed across all categories—from Adult D through to the elite-level WDSF World Open.
This year marked an exciting debut for Robert Balogh & Maria Kauzova, who entered the B Class (Open Choreography) competitions in both Standard (Ballroom) and Latin-American disciplines. Their performance brought fresh energy and promising talent to the international stage.
Meanwhile, Loh Der Lim faced an unexpected challenge when his partner, Linda, was unable to travel due to medical reasons. Undeterred, he showed tremendous courage by competing in the Solo Latin events, ultimately earning an impressive 4th place finish in the C Class category.
The standout success story of the weekend belonged to Oleg Terekhov & Anastasia Fokina. Over the first two days, the pair secured both Bronze and Silver placements in the A Class events. Their momentum carried through to Sunday, when they achieved a historic milestone—becoming the highest-ranked British couple in the World Open Standard event in over a decade.
Wuppertal once again proved to be a stage where British dancers not only participate but thrive—delivering performances that inspire and elevate the global standard of DanceSport.
