Crystal Palace Challenge — The First Official DSGB Event2012-05-22

The first official DanceSport Great Britain (DSGB) event has successfully taken place on Sunday, 20th May at the ILEC Conference Centre, Lillie Road in London.

The tournament was organised as part of Crystal Palace DanceSport Cup 2012 and was designed as the first step on the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) world-ranking ladder.

Eleven Adult dance couples representing England, Mongolia and Malta took part in the Standard and Latin competitions in C+ D + E categories.

This was also the first international experience for the six finalists in the Juvenile (under 12) and Junior 1 (12-13 years old) divisions, all of whom are trained locally in London.

The competition was judged by an international panel of adjudicators made up of seven top class representatives from Slovenia, Russia, Germany, Italy, France and Norway, as well as the DSGB Education Secretary, Susan Walker.

“At DSGB we are committed to nurturing new talent in Great Britain and will continue to invest in organising and encouraging new generation of competitors to be involved in high quality Standard and Latin-American DanceSport tournaments”, says Olga Komarova, DSGB President. “The Crystal Palace Challenge has proven to be an inspiration to promising new talents, and we look forward to seeing more competitions of this calibre being organised in the UK.”
